Entry #16 - The First Haircut!
Well, folks! I finally got a haircut! I was looking rather masculine, but now it's kind of spunky and different! I'll post a picture as soon as I can! :)

Entry #15 - Going to Camp

The next picture is a little delayed, but here it is!
I'm going to camp on Saturday! It's an acting camp. I must say, I think this haircut will be rather beneficial! I can play a guy or a girl. Speaking of which, I haven't had any "sir"s or "that guy over there"s in awhile, not including the man at CVS this morning who said "ma'am" and then, when I didn't look up, not knowing that he was addressing me, reconsidered and said "sir". :P But I'm really loving this 'do now!

Entry #13 - "Jacqui's Story"
Hello, everyone! Arlington county's TV show "26 square" (Arlington is 26 square miles, for all those who were wondering how the name came to be) came out with an episode featuring three different Arlingtonians, and I was one of them! If you go to Swanson with me, I bet you remember those camera guys following me around. Well, this is what they were for! So enjoy the video, and please spread the word. :)

Entry #12 - 12 Week Photo/Purple

Here it is, the 12 week photo! Enjoy! My hair's coming back fast now. It's about 14 weeks since the shaving today, and I don't have to worry about sunburns on my head or anything any more. But it is sticking up all over the place and is no longer too low-maintenance. Oh well! :P
Also, I haven't been able to find good pink dye anywhere, and so I've decided to dye part of my hair purple instead. Just an update. :)

Entry #11 - Pink
Hey everyone! I have just decided to dye a streak of my hair pink. It'll be near my face, and pink so that people can tell that I'm a girl and even show that I shaved my head for cancer - and breast cancer is generally known to be pink. I'll put up a picture when it's done! :)

Entry #10 - The 8 Week Photo

I said it would come, didn't I? Well here the 8 week picture is in all its glory, peach fuzz hair and all! The hair really does seem to be growing fast now, though I can't help but think that it normally grows this fast, but is more noticeable when it's short like mine. Now, finally, after the 12 week time, I am posting the 8 week! The 12 week picture will be up soon, too. My hair really is growing fast! :)

Entry #9 - 8 Weeks Down
Hello, everyone! I'm sorry it's been such a long time since I've written. But this past Thursday, my hair had it's 8-week-aversary! It's a little over an inch now. So the rumor that hair grows 1/2 inch per month seems to be true - at least for my hair! The picture was taken, as promised, and I'll put it up in my next post. I'm off for my spring break trip now, but I'll write soon! Keep a look-out on this blog if you want a photo of my 1-inch hair!

Entry #8 - The Promised Photo

Alright, everyone! I'm pleased to say that it's been a month and my hair is growing fast, yet still raising awareness! As the experts say, my hair really does seem to grow 1/2 inch per month! Jenna measured it today, and it seems to be just about exactly 1/2 inch! It's very soft either way you pet it, and it feels very odd to not have brushed my hair for a month! I mean, how many girls my age can say that without people looking at her as though she's crazy? I still get the crazy look, but it's much more hygienically pleasing! I performed in the Megillah and many people saw it for the first time. Some thought I did it only for the play, but I quickly told them what I actually did it for! It also suited my role as one of the Henry Vs in my friends' production of Henry V!
Well anyway, in stead of taking a picture of me and my hair every week, we've decided to do it once every month. This photograph was taken on Thursday, March 17th, exactly one month after my head was shaved.

Entry #7 - Three Weeks and Counting
Hi, folks! Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. Here's an update!
The hair has been growing pretty fast, although I believe that it just seems this way because it's so short. It's been three weeks - one week short of a month - and hair supposedly grows 1/2 inch per month. My hair is not very close to 1/2 inch yet...but we're getting there! As the weather gets warmer, I'm wearing my warm hats less and less. Claire has almost finished my hat, and it's REALLY beautiful and the perfect - not too hot or chilly, and very comfortable and attractive!
People haven't been rubbing my head as much lately, though my mom never fails to greet me with a hug and a good rub-of-the-head for "good luck." I also have another friend, Meredith, who constantly asks how her "good friends upstairs" are, meaning my little peeps of hair. She, at least, enjoys rubbing my fuzz! Speaking of fuzz - a lot of people, including me, are now calling it my "peach fuzz."
Stay tuned for pictures - they'll be coming very soon!! :)

Entry #6 - The Second Week Back at School
Well, everyone, I've made it through a full week and I'm very happy with what I've done. I feel really supported and glad that I did what I did, because I know it will make this world a better place, even if it's just a little bit. Thanks so much to all my followers and supporters and to the people who commented! I couldn't have done this without you. One of the reasons that I chose to shave my head NOW and not sooner or later is because of you guys.
You guys, who have helped me to get through the rough and smooth patches of this experience. You guys, who are always with me, every step of the way. You guys, who are my friends and family - whether related by blood or by heart.

Entry #5 - One Week Down
A week from yesterday, the head shaving commenced. So it's been a week with no hair! So far it's going well. Life is going on as usual now! Nothing different, besides the occasional rubbing of the head. I had another couple of interviews by Pete, and I continue telling people why I've done this. The message is getting out!

Entry #4 - Back at School
As a baldee, the weekend was pretty good. Nothing abnormal - although I did have a soccer game for the first time with no hair! You would think it would be less hot because you don't have all that hair in your face and covering your head, but it seemed to me that it insulated my head and was matted down with water and sweat, sealing it off and keeping it even hotter! However, it was very cool if air blew over my head, making the water cold and feeling very good. :) Anyway, I played goalie and I didn't have any problems seeing through my bangs! And when I poured water on my head, I felt it right away! Ah, sweet bliss! :P
So today was Tuesday, and I was back at school! I had just a couple people pet my hair, and otherwise all was the same as usual! It's amazing how quickly people adjust!

Entry #3 - The Weekend
Yesterday was Friday - an extremely warm day. My head has never been so warm and happy! It felt amazingly good!! :) I urge all you balding people to try it - soak up the sun! (Though if you'll be out for a while, PUT ON SUNSCREEN!) Though the wind didn't blow through my hair, the sun beamed down on my lack thereof, and it felt amazing!
Today was a little chillier and I went to a drumline competition, so I wore a fuzzy hat. I also found out that this is Cancer Awareness Week! What a coincidence! :)

Entry #2 - The First Day at School

Finally, a picture is posted! Enjoy!
Today, I went to school! I had a very wide variety of reactions, as expected, today. I had a couple faces that really did look exactly like this: :-O and some that looked like this: :-D. It was all very funny! I went down to the cafeteria before school and got loads of hugs and rubbings of my head.

Entry #1 - The Beginning
Hi everyone! Welcome to Jacqui's Bald Blog. I decided to shave my head for St. Baldrick's Foundation, to raise awareness and money to fight pediatric cancer and to donate my hair to a kid who lost their own because of cancer. Here's my page on the St. Baldrick's website:
http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/participantid/414426
So I've been raising money for a while, and now I finally did it - I shaved my head!
Wow, I really did it. I shaved my head. :) I'm fuzzy! And a kid will get to have my hair. I can compare this feeling to nothing like I've ever felt before - I know that I've helped to make a kid feel better and, with all the money I've raised, I know I'm helping find the cure for pediatric cancer.
Stay tuned for pictures and more posts!
